Jack Halberstam’s concept of failure as a queer, productive, and transformative strategy inspired this project. Imperfection, instability, and non-linearity are treated not as deficiencies, but as deliberate artistic methods that resist normative expectations of mastery, progress, and coherence.
The exhibition The Cold Heart takes Wilhelm Hauff’s fairy tale of the same name as its point of departure in order to reflect on the relationship between identity and social status. Within the context of the exhibition, the project explores contemporary practices in which all participating artists work across media — electronics, video, and performance — embracing the unfinished, the provisional, and the fragile.
In this sonic-performative field, queerness becomes a method: through disruption, reconfiguration, and persistent attempts that fail, shift, and emerge anew.
