Incantare

13. April 2027 | 20:00

Byung-Chul Han describes information as something that does not form a closed narrative.
. It does not provide a clear direction, but appears additive, fragmentary, and provisional.. In this sense, this programme does not focus on a narrative arc, but on a constellation of signs, gestures, and residues.

Diana Sohs Incantare: Take 2 gives the programme its title and its first image: music as invocation, repetition, and spell. Short gestures, fragile syllables, and sharply drawn colours become signs that return in different forms. In Isaac Roth Blumfield’s
Outside, prepared instruments open a more unstable space, where familiar sounds seem to arrive from a distance, already altered before they can be fully recognized.

Both works show, by example, how this programme approaches musical material: individual sounds, gestures, and colours are removed from their context, transformed, and brought into new constellations. Throughout the programme, such events are preserved, mirrored, condensed, or gradually worn away. Like scraps, notes, or mementos, they appear side by side and invite us to perceive similarities, ruptures, and unexpected connections.. Listening does not follow a predetermined story, but moves between recurrence, transformation, and open association.

Music by Katherine Balch, Katarina Gryvul, Oleksandra Katsalap, Fernando Manassero, Isaac Roth Blumfield, Golnaz Shariatzadeh and Diana Soh.
