Aftertext takes the idea of overwriting into the field of authorship itself.
New works by Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis, Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi, Cecilia Pereyra and Ana Gamboa. Commissioned by Distat Festival.

The programme begins from pre-existing musical works, texts, fragments, and sound worlds.
But these sources are not quoted from a distance. They are treated as living surfaces to be entered, appropriated, transformed, and written through. The aim is not collage, but re-inscription: a process in which original materials and concepts are absorbed into a new compositional language.

What remains of a source when it is rewritten almost from scratch? Where does one voice end and another begin? Aftertext asks how musical memory can be transformed without disappearing, and how a new work can emerge from the friction between inheritance and invention.
