Michael Quell‘s works emerge from an attentiveness to those molecular shifts that make becoming itself the material—developing complex shapes from individual impulses and arriving at forms that surge and shimmer. What does it mean today when music no longer narrates but generates fields and becomes a state of matter—liquid\, gaseous\, in constant transformation? Between these cosmic dimensions inserts itself Anahita Abbasi’s Faab IV\, which deconstructs associations with femininity through sonic violence\, while Elena Rykova’s Alone against the wall sketches a choreography of vulnerability.   \nWhat unites these works is a shared interest in the edges of perception. They do not ask what music is\, but where it arises. They do not compose works\, but states of being. DESCRIPTION:Rotondo\n„Die Kunst des Fügens” – a musical patchwork\nby Werner Bärtschi\, Ulrich Gasser\, Max E. Keller\, Martin Sigrist and Peter Wettstein \nComposers are known to work alone. They create their works as undisturbed as possible\, in a secluded room\, in a vacation or garden shed\, wherever and however it suits them. But in any case: they write alone. For once\, five composers wanted to break out of this\, wanted to create a joint work\, a collective composition. Rotondo is one such collective composition.\nThe joint creation process demanded a tremendously intensive interaction and resulted in a work lasting almost an hour\, full of ideas and drama\, a work that none of the five could have written alone and which as a whole grew beyond their individual capabilities. Increases\, contrasts\, accelerations\, reductions\, expansions\, standstills\, occasionally also persiflage or ironic references structure the music.\nThe text “Quergänge” is closely linked to this composition for nine instruments. A text without music\, i.e. no text setting. Pure literature of the unusual kind.
