[Sommer in Stuttgart] The Queer Art of Failure @OnTour

World premieres by Eloain Lovis Hübner and Laure M. Hiendl | Performances as part of The Cold Heart, an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. Presented within the framework of Sommer in Stuttgart.

A cooperation between the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg (ADK), Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Ensemble Aventure / Freiburg, and Musik der Jahrhunderte, in collaboration with the Animationsinstitut of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (FABW).

With: Ensemble Aventure, second-year directing, acting, and dramaturgy students from the ADK, and Motion Design students from the FABW.

Jack Halberstam’s idea of failure as a queer, productive, and transformative strategy inspired this project, in which imperfection, instability, and non-linearity are not treated as flaws, but as deliberate artistic methods that resist normative expectations of mastery, progress, and coherence.
The exhibition The Cold Heart takes Wilhelm Hauff’s fairy tale of the same name as its point of departure to reflect on the relationship between identity and social status. In collaboration with students from the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg, the performance explores, within the context of the exhibition, contemporary practices in which artists work across media — electronics, video, performance — and embrace the unfinished, the provisional, and the fragile: a sonic-performative field in which queerness becomes a method — through disruption, reconfiguration, and persistent attempts that fail, shift, and emerge anew.
